Policy

Editorial policy

How we source what we publish, how we handle commercial relationships, and what we will and will not change when someone asks us to.

1. What this site is

Brisbane Crypto is an independent information and comparison website covering cryptocurrency services available to residents of Brisbane and Queensland. We are not a bank, exchange, broker, custodian, fund manager, licensed financial adviser or registered tax agent. We do not hold, transmit or manage client money or crypto assets, and we do not execute or arrange transactions.

2. Where our figures come from

Fees, limits, coin counts and funding methods are taken from each operator's own published material at the time of review, and every platform we discuss is linked so readers can verify the current position themselves. Regulatory and legal statements are sourced to Australian government material — AUSTRAC guidance and media releases, ASIC and its Moneysmart service, published ATO guidance, ACCC and Scamwatch reporting, Queensland Police public warnings, and primary legislation. Location information about physical services is compiled from operator location pages and public directories.

Every content page carries a review date. Figures were accurate to the best of our knowledge on that date and can change without notice — particularly fee schedules, bank policies and ATM fleets, all of which move frequently.

3. Why we do not publish scores or star ratings

A single number implies a precision that does not exist, and it invites readers to skip the reasoning that would actually help them decide. Instead we use plainly labelled cost bands for relative expense, state what each platform is best at, and state what each platform is worst at. We would rather a reader disagreed with our reasoning than accepted our score.

We also do not publish aggregate user ratings we have not collected, backtested or unverifiable performance figures, or live maps of physical infrastructure that changes faster than we can maintain it.

4. How ordering works

Where we present a shortlist in order, the ordering criterion is stated on the page — for our main exchange comparison it is suitability for a typical Brisbane buyer with an Australian bank account, weighing order-book fees, AUD funding, and regulatory registration. Ordering is an editorial judgement, not a measurement, and it is not for sale.

5. Commercial relationships

Some outbound links on this site may earn us a commission if you open an account with a third-party platform. This costs you nothing and is how we fund the research.

The following are the commitments that go with it. Commercial arrangements do not determine ordering or influence what we say about a platform's weaknesses. Every platform in our comparison — including any we have a relationship with — carries a stated drawback. Fee tables are built from published schedules, not from commercial terms. We do not accept payment to add a platform, remove a criticism, alter a ranking, or publish a review written by anyone other than us. We do not publish sponsored posts presented as editorial. And where a page's subject is commercially sensitive — sign-up bonuses, for instance — we say what we actually think, which on that topic is that bonuses are mostly not worth chasing.

6. What we will and will not change on request

We will change: factual errors, out-of-date fees and limits, incorrect company or registration details, superseded regulatory statements, broken or redirected links, and anything a reader demonstrates we have described inaccurately. Send the correction and a source to contact@brisbane-crypto.com and we will amend it promptly.

We will not change: accurate criticism, publicly documented history a business would prefer forgotten, a ranking position, or an editorial judgement clearly labelled as ours. Requests to remove sourced factual material about regulatory action, insolvency proceedings or published enforcement outcomes will be declined.

7. Advice, and the absence of it

Nothing on this site is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. All content is general in nature and does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Cryptocurrency is volatile, largely unregulated as an investment, and capable of losing all of its value. Exchange balances are not protected by the Financial Claims Scheme that guarantees Australian bank deposits.

Before acting on anything you read here, consider seeking advice from a licensee holding an Australian Financial Services Licence, and from a registered tax agent for tax matters.

8. Corrections log and review cycle

Content pages are reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to pages containing figures that move — exchange fees, bank limits, ATM locations and regulatory dates. Where a correction materially changes the meaning of a page, we update the review date. The current review date across the site is September 2026.

9. Use of AI tools

We use software tools in research and drafting, as most publishers now do. Every factual claim, figure and source on this site is checked by a person against the primary source before publication, and editorial judgements are ours. If you find a claim that does not hold up, that is a failure of our process rather than of a tool, and we would like to know about it.
