About us
An independent guide to crypto in Brisbane
We research one market properly rather than every market shallowly: buying, selling, storing and reporting cryptocurrency from Brisbane and the rest of Queensland.
What we are, plainly
- An information and comparison website
- Focused on Brisbane and Queensland, not the whole world
- Sourced from operators' own pricing and Australian government material
What we are not: a bank, an exchange, a broker, a custodian or a licensed financial adviser. We never hold or move anyone's money.
Why this site exists
Most crypto comparison content aimed at Australians is written for the whole country, which means it stops exactly where local questions begin. It will tell you which exchange has the lowest maker fee. It will not tell you that Bank of Queensland caps crypto payments at around AU$5,000 a month, that the machine on Albert Street costs ten times a bank transfer, that three of the country's exchanges are run out of this city, or that Queensland Police issued suburb-level scam warnings to North Brisbane residents in January 2026.
Those are the things that actually change what a Brisbane resident should do. So that is what we write about.
How we research
Every fee figure on this site comes from the operator's own published schedule, and every platform we discuss links out to its own site so you can check our work rather than trust it. Regulatory statements are sourced to Australian government material — AUSTRAC media releases and guidance, ASIC and Moneysmart, ATO published guidance, ACCC scam reporting and Queensland Police warnings. Where we have made an editorial judgement rather than reported a fact, we label it as ours.
Some things we deliberately do not do. We do not publish star ratings or numeric scores, because a single number implies a precision nobody has and invites the reader to skip the reasoning. We do not present backtested or unverifiable performance figures. We do not publish live ATM maps, because machine fleets change without notice and a stale map sends people on wasted trips — instead we describe the geography and tell you to check the operator. And we do not describe any platform without also saying what it is worst at.
Where our money comes from
Some outbound links on this site may earn us a commission if you open an account with a third-party platform, at no cost to you. That is how independent comparison publishers in this category are funded.
It does not affect what we write. Our comparison pages carry a "where it bites" note on every platform including the ones we link to most prominently, our fee tables are built from published schedules rather than from commercial terms, and we have written a page telling readers that sign-up bonuses are mostly not worth chasing. Our editorial policy sets out the arrangement in full.
What we cannot do
We are not licensed to provide financial product advice, and we do not. Nothing on this site takes your personal circumstances into account. We cannot tell you whether to buy crypto, how much, which asset, or whether it suits your situation — those questions require an Australian Financial Services licensee. We are also not registered tax agents, so our tax pages explain how the rules work rather than what you should do about them.
Cryptocurrency is volatile and largely unprotected as an investment. Exchange balances are not covered by the Financial Claims Scheme that guarantees bank deposits. People lose money in this market routinely, including people who did nothing wrong. We would rather say that on our About page than in a footnote.
Corrections
Fees change, machines move, policies get rewritten. If something on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it — contact@brisbane-crypto.com. We would particularly like to hear from Brisbane readers who have found a machine that no longer exists, a bank limit that has changed, or a fee that has moved.
If you represent a platform we have written about and believe we have described you unfairly, email us with the correction and the source. We will amend factual errors promptly. We will not remove accurate criticism.

Official sources we rely on
If you only bookmark a few links from this site, make them these: AUSTRAC for exchange and ATM registration, ASIC and Moneysmart for licensing and investor warnings, the ATO's crypto asset pages for tax, and Scamwatch for reporting a loss.
